Ann Arbor claims to have a bicycle commuter rate six times greater than the nations average.</p>
<p>The Rapidian measures the success of the GGRBC by citing the amount of bike lanes that have been installed since their efforts began. To date, Grand Rapids is stated to be equipped with 34 miles of bike lanes. </p>
<p>GGRBCs Interim Director, Tom Tilma, identified a cultural shift among millennials and college students- many are choosing a lifestyle independent of a car." Tilma believes that this shift will encourage the move toward making the city more accommodating for cyclists.</p>

The Greater Grand Rapids Bicycle Coalition, as well as the city of Grand Rapids, should be applauded for the success they have had in installing the citys bike lanes. This progressive move is an encouragement for decongesting traffic, promoting a healthier lifestyle, and painting a more positive picture for the urban landscape.</p>
