Contemporary Philosophy Seminar for Super Philosophy Features Phin Upham

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 18, 2013 </p><p> Super Philosophy, a blog dedicated to academic news and articles on the subject of philosophy, will be holding its annual online seminar during the first week of May. The seminar, which will include guest lectures and essays, will feature writer Phin Upham. This years subject is contemporary philosophy.</p>&#13;
<p>Super Philosophys editors and featured guest bloggers will supply articles to the seminar. Upham will help the sites editorial staff moderate forums and facilitate an online panel discussion at the end of the seminar that will give writers a chance to respond to reader questions. <p>Previous years seminar topics were The Good Life, and Soren Kierkegaard. This years topic, contemporary philosophy, will cover the vocation of philosophy from the end of the 19th century to today, through an increase in both professionalization and public awareness. Various articles will cover the history of 20th century thought and some of its dominant branches, including continental philosophy and analytic philosophy. One of the seminars highly anticipated discussions will be on the increasing importance of linguistics to the field of philosophy, especially in the field of ordinary language philosophy.</p>&#13;
<p>Writer Phin Upham has contributed numerous articles to Super Philosophy, and has recently served as one of the blogs content editors. He has written on subjects such as emotion and phenomenology, and profiled a number of famous philosophers. He has also edited three compilations for the Harvard Review of Philosophy: Philosophers in Conversation (2002), The Space of Love and Garbage (2007), and All We Need is a Paradigm (2009).</p>&#13;
