Custom Obstacles and Other Surprises Await Divas at Austin Shape Diva Dash

Austin, TX (PRWEB) March 28, 2013

Victorious Secret, Kiss My Dash, and Winey Women are just a few of the teams that will be duking it out when the SHAPE Diva Dash returns to Walter E. Long Park near Austin on April 20.

The Diva Dash is a women's-only obstacle run that combines a three mile run and a dozen obstacles designed to challenge aspects of overall fitness, including strength, balance and agility. While there are no mud pits, fire pits or barbed wire, the Diva Dash delivers plenty of excitement and obstacles challenging for women of all ages and abilities.

New this year, competitive runners can sign up for a timed wave at 9:00 or 9:15AM and race for a top finish and prize. Less competitive divas can choose to run timed or untimed in any wave after 9:15; those opting for an official time can sign up for a timing chip at the venue on race day. Waves of about 300 start every 15 minutes from 9:00AM to noon.

This year, Divas can also expect new custom obstacles, some with different levels of difficulty, so they can choose the challenge level they want or skip an obstacle all together.

The Diva Dash is a celebration of girl power, camaraderie and athleticism. For many participants, this is their first running event; for others, it is their first obstacle run. Whatever their level, the supportive and encouraging atmosphere of the Dash is empowering for all, from first-timers to seasoned racers. Costumes and bling are encouraged and contribute to the festive mood throughout the event.

Austin is pleased to be partnering with Punch Austin Kettleball Gym and Camp Gladiator. Both are offering free training for Divas to help them get in shape for the Dash. More information can be found here. (http://divadash.com/city/austin/training/)

Registration is now open at the Diva Dash website.

"We are excited to bring the Diva Dash back to Austin, a city chosen for its vibrant, active community," said Josh Kravetz, founder of Adventure Fit. "It's a great fit for the Diva Dash, which is all about empowering and supporting women. It's girl power at its finest."

The SHAPE Diva DASH is for female runners (and walkers) of all abilities, however all are welcome to come out to the after party where there will be great music, prize contests, and lots of ladies showing off their costumes.

SHAPE Magazine is the title sponsor. Presenting sponsors include LUNA and Oakley. Beneficiaries include GenAustin and YWCA Austin.
